Marcelo is working on projects with philanthropic foundations and governments in Latin America, and is helping to strengthen DA operations in the region.
As Director of Management and Monitoring at the Social Development Ministry in Brazil, Marcelo was responsible for designing an intervention aimed at providing early childhood support throughout the country. After working tirelessly for several months, the Ministry launched "Brasil Carinhoso," an innovative effort that helped residents overcome extreme poverty by improving income, education and health access for more than six million families.
As Chief Data Officer for the Education Department of the Sao Paulo municipal government, Marcelo worked to eliminate the preschool waitlist of over 30,000 children ages four and over. Within two months of starting the project, his team provided decision makers with information about potential solutions; less than two months later, all children ages four and above in the city were attending school. Marcelo is very proud of the generational impact this will have.
