David Newsome

David is a senior leader in the North America Region. His current work focuses on place-based economic development strategies, specifically by supporting regional ecosystems and their K-12 workforce readiness programs.
David was most recently Director at Jobs for the Future (JFF), where his work focused on helping large employers use skills-based talent practices to create higher-quality jobs and increase access to these jobs.
Prior to JFF, David was Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at LOCUS, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and impact investing advisor. There, he led internal and external programs to test innovative financial models for domestic economic development, including the $50M+ Community Investment Guarantee Pool (CIGP).
David’s additional professional experiences include time with McKinsey & Company, the Kresge Foundation, and the City of Boston. He is the author of several articles, including:
