As part of a major philanthropy's sustainability initiative, Alek has worked closely with municipal governments in the United States to support delivery of ambitious city goals. At DA he has also designed results frameworks, built data storytelling capacity, driven process improvement efforts in municipal offices, and equipped city governments with strategic plans.
Most recently, he has focused on how local governments interact with and prepare for federal funding, supporting cities to collaborate across groups inside and outside government (city, state, county, and metropolitan planning organizations, as well as community groups and academia), and setting teams up to align potential funding streams and project priorities toward shared goals.
Alek previously worked in federal public sector consulting and delivered data science services to clients, providing analysis and developing Key Performance Indicators to enable data-driven decision making in United States government agencies. He has also spent time in Brazil as a Fulbright Fellow researching national-level renewable energy policy, and worked in the nonprofit sector as a legal advocate and direct services provider for asylum seekers.
